Wood’s have teamed up with the Shropshire Poppy Appeal to launch a special Poppy Ale commemorating the 100th anniversary of the start of the Great War.
To help boost the funds of the Royal British Legion, we’re giving 6p for every bottle of Poppy Ale sold, so we do hope you’ll do your bit by buying some!
The bottled beer, a traditional full-flavoured 4.5% bitter with Fuggles and Goldings hops, is on release now. It reflects the type of beer that was available 100 years ago, but with a modern twist.
A draught version of Poppy Ale will be available later this summer.
Wood’s MD Edward Wood said, “We are proud to support the Poppy Appeal in such a momentous year because the work they do now with the current generation of service personnel is just as important as it was back in the period following the Great War.”
Peter Whalley, Community Fundraiser for the Poppy Appeal in Shropshire, said, “We are delighted that the Brewery is supporting us in this way. The money will help fund the £1.6million we need each week, over £83million a year, to provide direct lifelong support to our armed forces and their families.”
Look out for Poppy Ale in a bar, restaurant or store near you. In particular you might like to look to Tanners, Bridgnorth, who have given us a whole window at their Bridgnorth branch to help promote Poppy Ale.
