Our local village hall here in Wistanstow is facing a £100,000-plus bill to renew more than 200 rotting windows, so we’re sponsoring a charity bike ride to help them raise funds.

The ride is being organised by three cycling friends, Jane Wood, Jean Carless and Janice Barrett, who call themselves The Pink Ladies because of their cycling outfits and they’re hoping to be joined on Sunday 21st May by scores of other cyclists.

Riders will have a choice of 35 and 65 mile courses and can expect to see Woody the brewery’s cycling scarecrow somewhere on the circuit, which has cake and drink stops aplenty. Riders will also return to receive to a thirst-quenching souvenir bottle of Shropshire Lad or Shropshire Lass!

Both the routes take in some of south Shropshire’s most beautiful countryside. Find out more and enter by visiting www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/156657/Ride-the-Shropshire-Marches-2017 or via Facebook. Further details from Jane Wood at janemwood@hotmail.co.uk or phone 01694 781321.
