Drinking beer is good for you – that’s official.

Supping a pint of beer a day helps you live longer, cuts the chance of a heart attack by a third and it’s not going to make you fat, experts at the European Beer & Health Symposium in Brussels have found.
And given the lower alcohol content of beer over wine – beer might even be better for you.
Studies from the UK and Romania showed moderate beer consumption can be part of a healthy diet and lifestyle and it does not lead to weight gain or a beer belly.
Drinking one or two beers a day reduces the overall risk of dying young said Dr Simona Costanz, an epidemiologist from the IRCCS Mediterranean Neurological Institute in Italy. She said research had proven teetotallers and heavy drinkers were at the highest risk of heart problems, while moderate consumers were at the lowest end.
