We’re reviving one of our best-selling occasional beers to mark ‘flower show’ season and in particular the world-renowned Shrewsbury Flower Show on 9 and 10 August. Above are our office manager Jo and brewer Paul unveiling the new brew.
We first brewed Fuchsia Perfect in 2002 as one of our Shropshire Heroes series to celebrate famous Shropshire people and Fuchsia marked Britain’s first celebrity TV gardener, Percy Thrower, the Shrewsbury Parks Superintendent who was famed for his live broadcasts in the early days of TV from the 1950s onwards. Fuchsia Perfect bursts with fresh, subtle flavours created by blending traditional Fuggles hops and crystal malts and at 4.3% ABV is a refreshingly pale and cooling summer drink. Find it at selected free houses around Shropshire and surrounding counties.
It was extremely popular when we first brewed it, and given this year’s summer weather and the onset of the flower show season, we thought it would be good to revive the recipe and let people have another taste of it. Percy will always be associated with Shrewsbury and the flower show, so the timing is Perfect!
Percy was famed for his fuchsias and had several flowers named after him.
