Wood’s has supported community causes and activities across Shropshire and the West Midlands for decades through donating money raised by special edition beers.
Most recently it has partnered the Royal British Legion to produce cask and bottled Poppy Ale and donating 5p for every pint sold. The beer marks the centenary of the start of World War 1 and is expected to raise well into four figures for the Legion’s work.
Other charities to have benefited over the years include the Flounders’ Folly Trust for upkeep of the stone tower that overlooks the A49 near Wistanstow (£900 from Sheer Folly), 2nd Longmynd Scout Troop, organisers of the annual Longmynd Hike endurance event (£575 from Purple Haze), Shropshire Wildlife Trust (£550 from Wild Shropshire), Wenlock Olympian Society (£1,000 from Athletes’ Ale) and the West Midlands Air Ambulance (£1,000 from Triple A – Air Ambulance Ale).
The brewery also produces ‘Twist Grip’, an annual brew in support of the Wistanstow Classic Vintage Bike Show and we’ve also helped Age Concern promote the need to help older less able people by printing tens of thousands of beer mats that were placed in pubs around Shropshire and the West Midlands.
